Lightbulb K&N Air filter (1999 LS400)

I'm trying to install to install k&N air filter to improve gas mileage and performance but have not been successful in finding suitable installer. Though K&N website gives you a list of local installers, I'm not finding it useful. Mot of them either have no clue to install it on a lexus or have no stock. The way they speak is this: STAY AWAY FROM K&N as you have a Lexus. Again, Lexus is a just a car and not something from the sky and so it'd need a good air filter like any other car. Any input?

Thanks

You do not need an installer to put the filter in. If you have a 10MM socket, you can remove the OLD filter be removing... I think 3 machine bolts. It's simple - front right side of the engine bay.

Pull the long panel that extends to the right side of the enginebay up, push it to the side. That exposes the screws. un-do the screws then, reach under the housing and there is a clip that holds the front and rear piece of the housing OFF. The filter should pull right out. Put the K&N right in the housing, put the cover back on, clip the pieces back, then bolt down.

Not hard to do it yourself.

On a scale of 1 to 10. (10 being hardest) I would say install is 2. It's just like putting in an OEM filter. If you think you seriously will still have a hard time doing it take it to one of those quick oil change places like Valvoline instant oil change or something like that. But than again it's still so easy to do it.

it's easy to do yourself. just try it, you'll be fine. 10mm socket and ratchet is all you need.
k&N's are fine filters for our cars, id ont' know why someone would say to stay away from them just because it's a lexus. i mean, it's really just a toyota...i use HKS because i prefer japanese parts for japanese cars but that's my preference.

K&N filters are junk and won't improve MPG or horsepower.

If you need someone to install an air filter, do exactly that. Don't touch anything under the hood because it won't turn out well.
