Default Need advice - Replace cabin air filter with Denso, the second one did not click

I just installed new cabin air filters in my 1993 Lexus LS400, and I did not feel a click or a holding piece to the second filter I put in.
I could not get it to click in any way, so I just placed the rubber cover underneath and tightened the wing nuts. Is this normal? If not, will it work properly and filter contaminants? (I definitely clicked both filters to be straight, and not bent like you need it to install it upward).

Thanks in advance!

Look for the arrow on the filter to make sure the air flow is going in the right direction.

They should just slide in, no wing nuts on my 97

I did make sure that the small **** is towards the seats/cabin, and not the engine bay for proper installation. But the part that worries me is that the second cabin filter did not click and it was still slipping loose very easily before the rubber gasket cover went on. I have tested the AC and outside air circulation, and I do feel a difference in smell and cleanness.

I tested on both, they both seem to be doing fine, smell is good/fresh.
