Doing a Suspension job....
Going to be doing the shocks/springs soon. Cars a 99 with 78k miles.
Do you guys think I might as well replace all the bushings while everything is apart? Heres what I'm talking about:

Just trying to have a smoother ride and save some money while doing it. Thanks

important question:
are you doing it yourself or having it done?
the bushings are a BOATLOAD of extra work, and a shop will easily charge you $500+ JUST for that job.
if your doing it urself itl be a lot cheaper, but is a real PITA if u dont have a hydraulic press.
personally, as long as they arent dead or dying, i wouldnt touch them. only ones i MIGHT replace are sway bar bushings (easy, approx. $40 from energy, Lexkost has details on this) and strut bars (not bushings, bars and bushings come for like $120/each so bushings alone arent worth it.)

I'm going to have to say take a good look at them when you do your suspension. My previous SC400 and ES300 both had/should have been replaced by 100K. The SC400 was totally shot by 100K, and the ES300 just were cracked. I'm talking about the lower control arm bushing here. The others may survive longer than that.
That said, I would not replace it with the urethane bushings. I did on my SC400 and the ride was stiff. Keep in mind, I used to daily drive a lowered NSX so I'm used to stiffer suspensions, but it is a very different stiff on the SC I had. Too me, it was stiff, came with all the potential problems of urethane bushings like squeaks, but didn't really help the performance appreciably to make it worth it. I installed mine myself so I save a lot of money, and like Puredrifter said it is a PITA.
If/When the time comes for new bushings, I would replace them with OEM rubber, or buy a new control arm. The only bushings I feel I personally would use the urethane ones on the LS are the steering rack bushings. With urethane bushings, squeaks will occur eventually unless you re-grease them often. After my SC400 urethane bushing experience I personally rather replace the entire control arm every 60-80K than to deal with the potential squeaks and re-greasing of the urethane ones.
PS. The bushings I used were the same ones you linked to on the l-tuned Carson page.

I think it could use springs, but not sure where to go to get them, as I want the ride as good or better than it is now. And like you, since I'll already have it torn apart, I might as well replace other wear items like bushings, sway arms, etc. I plan on doing most/all of the work myself.
Any info you could post on your project in terms of parts you chose to replace, as well as status on how it's going, and your before/after opinions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

same goes to you if you can find out ANYTHING PLEASE! I still haven't been able to get a answer as to if I should do bushings with the shock/spring replacement (while eveyrthing is already kinda being ripped apart, hopefully saving me some money). Its going to have to be done soon. So why not do it now?
MY REAL QUESTOIN IS: from the following, what would any of you reccomend getting:

I mentioned it in my post above. For me personally, I would NOT get the urethane bushings. I would; however, change them out as I personally believe they will start to go bad if not already by 100K. For a replacement, I personally would use stock rubber bushings, or if they don't sell them separately, but complete new lower control arms with bushings already installed. This cost more money though but it will be OEM stock. The only place I personally would use the urethane bushings if/when needed is on the steering rack.
Again, this is just my personal preference after installing those l-tuned LCA bushings on my SC400. For the price, it may be worth it to you. Obviously, these are still many times better than worn/cracked OEM rubber bushings so if yours are worn you should replace it with these or OEM.
