Very weird engine rev stutter
I have a 1993 ls4, problem free up too this last month, its been acting kinda funky.
occasionally when I start her up (or at random stopped at a stoplight) the revs will fall from about 600ish to anywhere in between 0 and back up again. this goes on for about a minute and then it acts as if nothing has happened. also while this happens the TRAC light comes on. The blips also keep happening if I accelerate. I recently had the car serviced at a toyota dealer and one of the things they did was fix the trac light (common problem) from coming on. REALLY strange, im not sure what to make of it, I would take it back to the dealer but I have a feeling they're just going to charge me more money... any suggestions?.
also I have a strange whining noise the follows the engine revs that occasionally presents itself. It bears a similar noise to a supercharger. if anyone has any ideas Id like to hear them.
last time I take it too any dealer

Hey is the supercharger whine all the time or just when the AC is on? I ask because both ls400s i have whine with the ac. The 93 is much louder than the 94. I guessing its just a belt or pulley somewhere.
Sorry about the trac problem. I have no clue on that stuff.

I have a question for you. Does it ever stutter when you give it alot of gas? OR if you floor it? There could be a disruption in the fuel line if that happens. As for the whine, it could be an alternator wearing out, I have never had this kind of problem before, but it's always nice to consider some of those things.
I will say this though. When my Alternator went bad on my Lincoln, I liked the way it sounded with the exhaust on it. It sounded dead on a Supercharged muscle car at WOT, but that lasted about 3 or 4 days until it completely died lol.

Have you had your spark plug wires, rotors, and caps replaced? If not, then it's probably time to. I had the same problem, and replacing the aforementioned solved it.
I currently have a whining problem as well except mine's consistent everytime the gas pedal is pressed from stop or at very low speeds...heard it might be a bearing problem?

thanks for the quick feedback guys,
I have always driven with the ac on, I just push the "auto" button and leave it be, ill drive with it off and see if that affects it.
I will also have to give it alot of gas and see if the problem continues, it does do it under normal acceleration but ill see. I know my alternator has been going for just about 200k so its probably time for a new one anyway
spark plugs are the same deal... I just had them replaced at the dealer. I figured after almost 200k id give them a break too, maybe one of the components wasnt installed properly? Im going to go back to the dealer and act angry or something, It should be under warranty so they can at least look at it. toyota dealer is much cheaper than the lexus one but i still wish i could find a local mechanic... anyway thanks for all your help guys ill get back to you soon.

update: well true to form when I brought it back to the dealer for a free checkup... nothing was wrong with it... The car has been running flawlessly for the last week so I assume the car... uhh.. broke itself in or something. well it certainly has a mind of its own.

okay got another update,
I took it back to the dealer and sure enough there was a bad connection with one of the spark plug wires, stutter is fixed~! but now the engine whine is VERY prominent and embarrasing, ive got to figure out what it is...ive got more clues to add too.
for the engine whine.
- resembles a supercharger in terms of noise
- Follows engine revs
- at low speeds I can feel more resistance in the steering wheel, and another pronounced whine whenever I turn the wheel.
I think its either the power steering system (needs a flush?) or an alternator or SOMETHING...
any suggestions?
