Exclamation Engine Problem

Hey guys im trying to catch this problem before it does something critical. My engine is making this chuga chuga noise... hmmm how can i describe it.. its like tittt tittt titttittittitt over and over agian. Ok i think its coming from the valvetrain. As the RPMs increase the noise gets faster... almost like a camshaft or a valve... i really dont know there are so many parts it could be but those are just my guesses.. it usually happens between 600-2000RPM once you clear 2000RPM it stops. what do you think the problem is? what should i do? bring it to the dealer right? please help out guys

I'd say, go to the dealer.
It doesn't sound right.

Yeah, I'd bring it to the dealer. You should still have the power train warranty.

Check to see if theres a nail in your tire.....had a screw in mine and the noise was tick tick tick tick faster and faster as the rpms went up......

It sounds like a lifter to me,as the rpms go up so does the oil press. and it stops the lifer nock.It might need to be replaced and the power train warr. should cover it.

Fernando.

Not trying to be a wiseguy Sasha (for a change), but maybe it's bad gas and the engine's pinging?

Bit, engine ECU should compensate for bad gas, plus as rpm rises, ping (detonation) should get worse, not better.

Good point Dr. Torque! I think REALLY bad gas could cause problems, but it's a long shot.

Pinging only occurs under load, so that's not it.
Did it do it before? I'm asking because my car makes a weird noise (I'm posting a new message on this) since new.
At least the V8 has mechanical valves, and there's always some valve noise associated with that, especially audible at low rpms.

My best guess is that you need a valve adjustment. You can easily pinpoint the offending cylinder with a leak-down test (or even a simple compression test) if indeed you have a problem.
I can almost bet your car only needs a valve adjustment. Have you done it? How many miles do you have? Do you feel any power loss?
