Leaking steering rack, second gen... ('96 LS)
I got a good look under the car today and I thought the PS pump was the issue at hand, turns out the inner boot on the pass side is torn and I have a nice leak from there. A reman rack is $264.59 my cost.
Are there any rebuild kits for this, or do I just need to drop the cash for a reman rack?
Thanks.

just get a reamnufactured one , yes there is repair kit but not much of a difference in price, and still youve got a warranty on your remanufactured one and sometimes lifetime on a rebuilt one

yes its possible depends on your location all the dirt, your power steering pump, oil, your screen, tie rod, all that has to with it, and to replaced it pretty straight forward, just a lot of patience

Makes perfect sense then at 230K+
I already checked it out how to remove, it's a piece of cake. I could have it done in two hours including beer breaks.
Anyone know where I could get new supply/return lines for the rack? May as well while I'm in there.

I've done that a few times with VERY spendy hoses, most high side PS lines for my MBs are $88-36... so I just replace them. $200+ is insane, I'll take it to the machine shop.
