Which years had highest sales volume?
Here in Dallas, there are TONS of lexus cars on the road. I'm looking for an LS or GS, and I see WAY more pre-98 ls cars than 98-00 ls cars. The 90-04 look almost exactly like the 95-97, so im counting those all together in my head.
Did 98-00 sell fewer, or did more of them break down or what?
whic years for the LS, or GS are the longest lasting so far?

Here is a link to the calendar year sales figures that I posted in 2004: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums...topic=8844&hl=
By coicidence, I spent last week in Dallas -- I stayed at the Candlewood hotel northeast of the intersection of the North tollway and the LBJ freeway. During my early morning jogs through neighborhoods to the north of this area, I saw more 98-00 LS400's than 00-97 LS400's and LS430's.
I was quite surprised to see so many pristine 98-00 LS400's. But yes, the biggest production years of the LS400 were the early years when prices were lower and before Lexus expanded their model line.

I live in Dallas as well and I see all years of LS's on the road. When I was looking for mine I only searched for the 98-00 models because I wanted the last years of the LS400 for the extra HP. There's plenty of cars for sale, you just have to look until you find what you want. Sewell Lexus in Dallas generally has a lot of nice used LS's on their lot, check them out.

I know exactly where that is, near LBJ and the tollway is a pretty affluent area. I do notice newer cars there, but I was worried for a bit that the earlier ones might have been more durable since I see so many on the road...and that maybe the newer ones sold the same numbers but have 'died off.' 98-00 has the some of the lowest numbers sold that year, so i can expect the same percentage of cars still on the road. This was exactly what i was looking for, thanks.
Sewell does seem to have a lot of cars on their lot. I almost bought an 02 ls430 for 19500 but it had a few problems and luckily it sold while i was sitting around thinking about it. I'm trying to get a dealer friend to get one at auction for me from the auction that sewell and park place send their cars to.
I looked at 3 GS and one LS at auction and they all had some repair needed and sold for what i thought to be alot that day. hopefully between holidays people will buy less cars and they will auction for less money.
thanks for the info guys

Yeah when I looked at the cars at Sewell the only one I liked had a bad smell inside, kinda like smoke or old man smell. I ended up finding my car at a dealer in Addison. Got what I wanted for my trade and a car that was in excellent shape. Just keep checking Ebay and auto trader and you'll find something you like.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Mike Petitt at Sewell has a 2000 Platinum in white with 69Kmi for $23K OBO.
Read "The Relentless Pursuit" by Chester Dawson (I think thats right) if you want to know what made Lexus what it is.
If you subscribe to "The HOLY Book of Dots" (Consumer Reports April Issue)it's the best car ever built...every year.
If you like JD Power 3 year study its been #1 in Long Term Quality if not every year..10 out of 12 years.
It took 2 months to find the LS I wanted/got.
Good hunting
