Default Cooling fans not running

90 LS 400 127,600 Miles. Engine Warning lights came on. Cooling fans not running. Engine compartment seem extremely hot, although the temperature was at midpoint on the temperature gauge. Can someone suggest probable cause and the proper steps to check it out.

Thanks

Those fans are the auxillary fans for the AC condenser. The engine has its own fan.

Check to make sure the fan clutch is not locked. With the engine off, see if you can turn the engine fan. If you can then you should be good. I don't know if I've ever seen the cooling fans in the front running. If you're still worried you may want to replace the thermostat.

those fans only run for me when the weather is 100+ in san diego. I wouldnt worry about hte fans.. you should pull the codes or take it in to a mechanic or dealership

Thanks for your help. Checked the engine fuse (5 PIN) under the hood. Seemed ok. Put it back in.
Started engine, warning light went off. Slight corrosion on the pin I guess. I'll keep My eye on it though.

Thanks Again

umm.. that ecu fuse just clears the code temporarly and it will turn on back again. You could always borrow a OB1 scanner or do a self diagnosis on the engine code to find out exactly what is triggering the code.
