i currently have HID projector fog lights and i find they don't light up the road too well due to being soo low to the ground. but they do light up the imidiate area great. but you can't even see that area within the car so its pointless

I have no idea why Jason was talking about the H3 bulbs. I specfically explained to him I wanted to replace the fogs on a 99 GS400 - I assumed he knew what bulbs are in this car.
Henry, you said I have to take the bumper off and make a "bit trip for the red wire"? What is that?

question, why do you need h3 for your fogs? the fogs on gs is also 9006, same as non-hid headlight. yes it's harder to wire coz you need to take off bumper and you need to make a bit trip for the red wire

yeah you need 9006, not h3 well first you need to take off the bumper to find a good place to mount the ballast so it's secured from falling and water. second, with the bumper off, you can route the tie all the wires probably in a cleaner way

So the Lexus takes 9006 bulbs? Pretty much all fog light I know use H3s...When you think of H3 you usually think of fog lights because the bulb is so much shorter than other types because it's designed for fog lamp use.

Yeah, those cheap APC aftermarket headlamps use projectors from fog lights, which is why they use H3s. The manufacturer is too cheap to design a projector for low beam use so they go with whats cheap and available and use a fog projector for low beams. I've seen cars with them and it's like their lights are not even on...the H3 bulb is weak and the beam pattern only lights up whats immediately in front of the car.
