+12V On lock / unlock SC300 flashing lights
Hello,
Using an idea from a BMW forum, I wanted to wire the door lock +12V to the emergency flashers so that when I lock/unlock with the remote, the parking lights flash.
I found a wiring diagram (attached) and used a multimeter to tap into the driver kickpanel wires that power the door locks. I locked and unlocked and tested each wire and found 2, one is +12V on lock and the other is +12V on unlock, they are thicker than the other ones. I was going to then run a tap from that into the wires in the emergency flasher harness by the radio. I tapped +12V until I found the lights, however this is where it gets tricky. The left and right side are independent and also link to a relay to power both the font and back. So I'd have to run 12+ from both the unlock and lock to both wires in the emergency harness.
I was all set to do this, until I realized that when manually locking and unlocking using the switch in the door also sends 12V of course, so let's say you get in the car and hit the lock in the door, the lights will flash.
I did more research and found that the factory alarm is triggered by the locking mechanism, so there's not really a +12V on lock from the alarm anywhere else in the car.
An aftermarket alarm obviously has a +12V flasher output, but does anyone else know where I can source +12V from the *remote* lock/unlock?
