Best double din for SC300??? HELP!!
So I've got a 92 SC300 currently with a single din dvd player which leaves this beautiful, gaping whole of wires that I just filled with a stuffed animal....I'm looking for a nice double din but I'm getting confused on what brands, size, and things like installation kits? I've tried looking this up but it's such a broad topic I never really found anything that could help me out. I've seen a nice SONY double din at Best Buy for around $500 but I have no idea whether or not it would fit in my car...so I'm looking for what you guys think is the best double din with a screen size of about 7". Don't want or need navigation just the basics. Looking to spend around $200-$500. So far I've been looking at Lanzar 7" ones, heard good things about Kenwood, and there's just so many brands and what not I'm getting lost...so any suggestions, advice, recommendations are greatly appreciated!! I'm new to the car scene and just trying to learn. I've searched for things on this forum and Google and this post is my last hope hahaha so thanks in advance for any help!!!

Pioneer double din. Get one with a built in fan. Mp3 input and iPod, just basics will do. I love my pioneer. Easy operation and came with remote control. Other thing was the ease of install with a double din Metra kit and wiring harness. Some people say you need a ground loop isolator for the ground noise, but I didn't need one. The kit and harness is a mere 40 bucks or so, can be ordered from your local stereo shop or maybe Crutchfield.

Fan? Never heard of anyone saying anything about a fan? But if they cost around $500 I'm sure it comes with a fan. I'm assuming it'd have vents on the back? I think I've seen pictures of it but not certain.
I've seen the Metra kit from Best Buy but was wondering if I could use my single din kit for my double? Idk...hahaha

Pioneer avh-p3400bh, avh-p4400
Kenwood DDX319, DDX719
Clarion NX501, VX401
Those are a few I like in the price range you stated, if you are a Amazon/Ebay shopper, but still may be able to grab some of them no more to a little over the $500 range

also look at JVC KW-AV70BT awesome radio more features less $$ retail is 549... fleabay under $350.. most radios have fans built in for cooling.. not a major selling point.

I got the new pioneer avh 2400 that now has bt audio streaming for $300 from amazon. Picked up the metro install kit too. Didn't have to use the metro harness but would have made life easier. Ground kit is needed if you don't have nak setup but u can probably just reuse the harness that is on the existing radio.

enough with these cheap DDIN headunits! haha
you want top of the line, pioneer + kenwood
pioneer has easier UI (user interface), kenwood has the better GPS (garmin) and is also a little more expensive
speaking for pioneer only i got the z130bt, the new 140 just came out too. ddin boot time is one of the faster ones (10 seconds)

I'm also looking for the same thing in the $500 and under price range. Although I'd probably stick with Pioneer, Kenwood, or Sony. I'm not big on features like GPS at all, but I'd like to find something that is ipod or iphone compatible
I'm pretty dumb when it comes to headunits and car audio in general. I think the last time I ever did anything audio related was back in 2007-08 when I started working on my 1JZ project.

Pioneer, JVC, Kenwood, and Alpine all make good stuff. I use a Pioneer AVH-P4200 in my SC300 and it works great. The interface is easy to use and I was able to hook my Playstation 2 up to it.
Check Amazon for the Pioneers. I got mine for $400 right after it came out through Amazon.
