Question Changing from Gen4 to Gen5 NAV on RX400h

Tried searching but nothing definitive. Has it been done? If so, how easy/hard is it?

Any info is welcome even if done in another model.

TIA!

it would require switching both screen and computer and lots of wiring adaptors would be needed as even though the 26 pin power connctor look simlar they changed all the power wires .usually they change the power connector when they change the power wiring so that means if you plugged a 5th gen screen into the 4th gen connctor at the least it wouldnt power up ant the most it would cause shorting.................................................................. so a power connctor adpter would be needed. i have done the switch on a 3rd to 4th navigation which is easy becasue they both have analog wiring to the gps screen to computer. but not a 4th to 5th gen as 5th went to didital sony made gigahertz cable to carry the signal to the screen from gps ecu and the screen has many more pixels in 5th which is the reason it is a much better picture than the 4th gen.

lexusaudio:

I am interested in this 3rd to 4th generation navigation switch for my RX 330. What all is involved in the switch? Do I just need the Nav screen/computer for the switch? Is it a straight switchout? How much did you spend?

Thanks.

So the place to start would be a wiring schematics of the plugs of both units. Wonder who would have the PDF's

I am interested in taking my '03 RX (gen2?) to gen4.

How does one get hold of lexusaudio? He doesn't accept PMs and an ebay account with the same name is defunct.

Thx

G.

the answer is simple... it cost a lot! anything can be done to a car, but it's not a simple/cheap swap as you might hope.
