Default updated DVD for Navigation System

I have a 2004 ES330 with the Mark Levingston sound system. My Navigation System has the ver. 04.2 DVD. I want to upgrade to a newer version but don't know if after market versions exist or if I have to go through the dealer at 200 percent markups. Can someone help?

for OZ, all the data from the new 8.1 wont fit in the 2nd gen rx300 computer. someone from lexus should be able to come to the dealer to set computer back to default to rid it of the 8.1 version. then you can put up to a 2006 5.1 upgrade in but nothing newer. it wont hold the data. i wonder why the dealers dont know that . that computer had some defective parts that make it break prematurely. the screen will say "disc not detected "when the computer is non functioning . . if screen says "wrong disc" then they accidentally pushed the loading button which switches unit to another country. that is something they shoulod fix for free. it would cost about 150.00 to fix the unit including labor not 1500.00. for about 500.00 you can switch to a newer 3rd gen computer not pay 1500.00 to get that defective 2nd gen computer refurbed for 1500.00. you can use your new 8.1 upgrade disc in a 3rd gen computer but not a 4th gen.
.................................. to preppy. you need a 4th gen disc 86271-33045 which arnt sold much in aftermarket. mostly the latest 5th gen from 2006 7 up. so dont buy the wrong one. it says u23 on disc at about 2 oclock position. the 5th gen say u33. dont buy anything to upgrade but 2006 u20, 2007 u21, 2008 u22 or 2009 u23. any other u number wont work. some members have made a hybrid disc by taking u20 firmware and u23 maps and data so they can acsess the override screen. which allows full acsess to all gps functions for the passenger while driving. so a 4th gen 5.1/8.1 hybrid is the most desirable map. which the dealer doesnt sell .

I can tell you that mp3 CDs don't play in the RX until about 2007. My 06 GX (4th gen Nav) won't play them

SilverLady

I just found out same,.. thank you!

Do you know how where to connect AUX-in to RX300 (Mark Levingston sound system), so i can connect either USB or iPod/iPhone. I'm sure that is possible.

Also is possible that i update my NAVI system with newest maps?
POSSIBLE TO COPY ORIGINAL CDs (i don't think so)???

Thank you!

I have a Lexus 2006 IS350, ML, Nav.

I want to upgrade my Nav DVD from 5.1 to 8.1, so I've got the DVD, and I am now looking for the "in-vehicle tools" my Nav owners manual says are .. assumedly .. in the vehicle.

Does anyone know where these are? What, exactly, am I looking for? I have the wrench/wheel-locks pack, and I have the first aid pack; I don't see any other packages in the car. Where is it normally located?

the clock assembly has to be removed to replace the dvd map. . i just use 2 small jewlery screw drivers to unlock the springs that hold the clock in. the owers manual pouch should hace the 2 small tools supplied by lexus.

On the 2006 IS350 (I just found out) they're located in the wheel lock / wrench / tools pouch near the spare tire in the trunk.
