My suggestion: Take it to a local stereo shop and get a price on an aftermarket (Eclipse) navigation first. Make sure you get some idea of the previous work they have done. Make sure they have pictures or something to show that they have done the type of work before. Ask them for a quote.
Then, go to the dealership and ask them for a quote for the total product and labor involved.
Aftermarket will probably be about 50-75% less than the factory. And, usually the aftermarket will sound better, have more features, upgrade-ability, and function better all around. For example, you can have a direct connect ipod adapter added to an Eclipse or Pioneer (just don't get the f-series) and with factory that's not possible without extensive work... GL!!

thanks for your advice. i will look into that. i prefered the oem look rather then having the ml being removed out. well if last resort, then i have to choose betwen my ml or a navigaton screen. if you have another suggestion or have any others sources do let me know.

You can get the LCD display and the NAV computer - it's shared with the LX, GX, Prius, Highlander, and Land Cruiser. The problem and PITA will be the wiring. You don't need an ML system for NAV.
