CD player lights up, turns on then shuts off

CD player lights up, turns on then shuts off
I took apart the whole changer and figured out why it was stuck on saying it was "open" now the cd light will come on and ill push it. It will say trk cd bla bla then shut off the radio.. Everytime... Also I'm havin flickering gauges... related?
