I used a Metra 88-00-8000 Toyota Pocket, which has pre-existing mounting holes on both sides, as well as a double DIN trim ring. The double DIN trim ring is made of 1/4" MDF; I use templates to route out the outside as well as the inside. High build primer and then Satin black paint. Stereo and pocket are mounted to the factory brackets, centered and flushed back so the trim panel lines up with the upper AC panel and the lower ashtray.
Building the templates takes time, but I can now duplicate them.

Old thread bump, so I don't expect that anyone who posted to it 7 years ago will necessarily respond. Does anyone have a guess as to what pocket VinnyQH used in the previous post? That has a nice look to it, unlike the Metra pockets that don't match any other texture in the car (see rich001's pics in post #2) and are too cheaply made to hold their shape, if the one I have lying around from a spare parts acquisition is any indication.
The challenge is finding a pocket narrow enough to fit the lower half of the SC's opening. A typical 7" pocket is a bit too wide if it has mounts designed into the sides of its front panel, like most I've looked at do. The Metra ones are also 7" but the mounts are not flush on the sides.
