radio lcd repair of 1998 gs pioneer system( premium sound non nakamichi)
i buy the whole lcd unit with the circuit board already attached because i couldnt get the lcd to reattach either. the whole assembly is around 100.00 but worth it because of the reattachment problem of just buying the 50.00 lcd.. i do radio repairs all the tiime and couldnt attach the lcd either. i am sure there is a way to do it but i have just the 30.00 repair manual for the radio but it doesnt cover the process of how to glue the lcd back. every other 2nd generation lexus radio lcds come as 1 unit and you have no choice to buy the lcd only like the gs. so the apparrent 50.00 savings is not working out to just to buy the lcd . i sell the whole lcd unit for 110.00 shipped with the instruction service manual on how to replace the whole unit. it only has 2 screws and a connector to replace it. the lcd is already glued at the factory on the new cpomplete lcd dispalys i have in stock. i do this as a service to club members who want to fix their own radios. the dealer wants 400.00 to 600.00 depending on dealer profit to refurb the radio . refurbished means your getting someone elses broken radio that has been repaired. the dealer calls refurbed radios new but the boxes clearely state the radios have been refurbished. there are no new lexus radios for sale in usa only refurbished. better to fix you own lcd and anyone can do it with proper instructions on how to remove the radio from the dash and how to open top of the radio to treplace the lcd. this post also applies to es300 1997 and up and ls400 and 1995 up
