Hardwiring a radar detector
#92
Okay guys. I got it.
For those that have a 2017 IS 200t F Sport. For reference I'm using an Escort iX with MirrorTap
Pull the lower plastic cover downwards. The top part should follow. Now both halves should detach from each other VERY easily. Then you should be able to remove it completely.
Theres 2 cables. Use the one on the right (the one that goes directly to the mirror).
Take your mirrortap and find the second smallest wire adapters. They should go in easily and come out with slight resistance. Black to blue and red to pink. That's it!
Underneath the plastic cover
With mirrortap installed
Use the cable on the right
The mount the iX comes with is VERY strong

Depending on which route you go. I have a dashcamera hardwired to the fusebox, and i used fuse taps, i tape my cover over the top of the fuse box now because it won't close properly
Fuse Taps
I bought this mirror tap for my uniden drf7 which uses 2 the middle two prongs from a rj45 (phone line/corded phone jack)
Mirror Tap w/ rj45 style connector

Sensor cover remaval Issue
The instructions are spot on but I have an issue removing the two piece cover as described, the lower half is easy to disengage but I cant seem to separate the smaller top piece. I cant see how it attaches and I don't want to break it, any suggestions?

It may take some fidgeting but it'll go
It may take some fidgeting but it'll go. But yeah definitely don't force it hard

Pole Position
Just fyi, on my USA 2016 with auto dimming mirrors and homelink it is opposite of this picture, thank you for the guide though, was much easier just reversing the wires rather than having to figure out which is which!
Now the only problem I think is going to be radar assist cruise control and pre collision, figured I'd try it anyway, using a 9500ix.

edit: i'm using those little clip things that tap into both wires simultaneously ideally making a connection.

Example...if Pin #1 is Battery 12V, then it will be that on every 3IS, regardless if the wire is Pink, or Gray, or Blue, etc.

I have a RoAV C1 Pro Dash Cam, it uses a USB (Male Micro 5-pin) cable that goes into a USB cigarette lighter adapter.
How would I go about connecting a USB to to the rear view mirror? I like to do this for obvious reasons:
1) Cleaner
2) I can find a short USB cable and not have to use the long one that came with, and install the cables/hide.
Thanks
