Question 2014 IS350 F Sport V.S. 2006-2012 IS350

I am wondering which car is faster.

0-60 MPH
0-100 MPH
Quarter Miles.

I know the 2014 IS350 F Sport is heavier and 8 speed gear box.
I did search around, but I can't find any answer.

2IS final gearing with the differential is more aggressive than the 3IS. 3IS is 66lbs heavier

Real world numbers are so close that you'll never tell the difference in real world

Fastest 0-60 time I have seen for the 2IS is 4.6s. Fastest time I seen for the 3IS (so far) is 5.2s. Seems like we don't have many speed freaks this early on in the product's lifecycle. Though I still expect the 2IS to be faster.

Extrapolating, that would put the car close to 13 seconds for the quarter. Think 335i. Think EVO. Think STI. Whatever miracle of electronics accounted for 4.6 second sprint to 60 is something my car can't do. I'll trust the automotive professionals for believable testing.

To answer the OP's question, one site has the 2006-2013 IS 350 rwd at 5.8 seconds to 60, 14.3 for the quarter, and top speed at 144mph. This site also has the 2014 350F rwd at 5.6 to 60, 13.9 for the quarter, with an equivalent top speed. So, the 3IS is the faster car. Please see the attached link:

Also, I think the IS350 AWD Fsport only has a 6speed tranny. Does anyone know the reasoning behind this?

I read that Lexus states the AWD versions must use the 6 speed, not the 8 speed, because there isn't room to fit both the larger 8 speed transmission and the AWD hardware.

Lexus IS350 0-60 in 4.6 seconds - YouTube
Thanks for the video.
I know the 2Gen IS350 time very well.
Do you know where's the video of the 3rd Gen IS350 5.2s 0-60 video?
I remember back in the days when the 2nd Gen IS350 is out, there is a lot of video about the 0-60, 0-100 and how fast it is. :roll eyes: Good old times

I actually wanna know how does the 3IS hold up with the 2IS until it hits the speed limiter.
I am wondering if the 8 speed would make up some time when the 2Gen IS hit 4th gear.
The 4th gear is somewhat too long IMO.

Not sure either tbh but if you check out his other videos he clearly loves to race cars. The guy stated he was using brand new tires and you can see he was purposely running them low which no reviewer is gonna do. He's also doing it in colder weather with no wind as opposed to reviews which usually happen in the summer. I've also just read that in order to fully disable traction control you have to hold the button down a few seconds as opposed to just pressing the button to fully disable it. Not sure if it is the same in the 3IS.

I'm leary of any 0-60 time because I litterally watched one "official" review of the IS350 where the dude came in at 7.3s... I then watched his fellow reviewer drag race him in essentially the same car (f-sport vs non-sport) and beat him by a car length. It was pretty sad, surprised they actually published that review.

Since I don't trust reviews that's exactly why I floor each car I test drive and test its straight line speed at least a few different ways.

I cannot find it now. I know it was a big name car review site. It was pretty early on so makes me wonder if my google skills just suck or if they took the review down.

Ya I got to agree with you on 4th gear. That is why I always played with the gas pedal about 2-2.5k RPM before redline, sometimes 3k prior on 4th gear. I like the way the S4 handles 4th gear. The 335i was worse, especially the 2013.

I haven't floored mine yet since it's only 3 days old but if I judge from the 3IS 250 loaner they gave me the 6-speed is the same. It takes 1st gear all the way to red, same with 2nd but on 3rd and 4th the shift points seem to be around 5000-5500 RPM for 3rd and slightly less for 4th. On the F-Sport I don't think it will shift pass 5th or 6th gear when in Sport + mode but I could be wrong on that since I'm still babying mine and I didn't know where to find the Gear display when I was doing the test drive. So the shift points could be different.

I would like to see someone do it in Normal and Sport + mode. This area should be decent since its relative low humidity but I'd lose ground on any track test because of the elevation here.
