Help!! [choosing car to bring to college]
Hey guys I need your help. I'm new to the forum world as well as the Lexus world. I'm a soon to be college student and I currently drive a 2003 Avalanche. I REFUSE to take that truck to college with me. I need help choosing between a IS250 (second gen), Mustang v6 (05 and up) and either a Nissan 350z or 370z. I'm leaning towards the Lexus but I need to know how much the car is to keep maintained, MPG, insurance rates, etc. if anybody could help me on my decision that would be great!

Get the Lexus, it's the best all around of your choices.
Maintenance is pretty cheap, I assume just stay on top of oil changes and do the major services and it'll stay in good condition. I get about 25-30MPG on my 2012 but I drive a lot of freeway; it's relatively gas efficient. Insurance rates are where they'll get you though, I pay about $180/month on insurance in Los Angeles, CA for an average plan.

Avalanche.. gas guzzler will drain your wallet
mustang.. FORD: Fix Or Repair Daily (leaves no time for studying)
350/370z.. as stated its impractical and also a gas guzzler.
In all seriousness, get an is250 AWD. its very good on gas, reliable, comfortable and with AWD you have traction in all weather conditions

Don't you live in GA, Go with RWD is350 lol. IS250 is slow and you will be back on this forum asking how to make it quicker lol.

Moving in and out of college with a Z is the worst thing you can ever subject your self to. Plus the Mustang is not really that great of a car unless its v8.
The IS is easy to maintain as well as is the lesser cost of all your choices. MPG is 22/28/26 combined but really depends on how you drive. Insurance is also going to depend on your age and driving record. I will say, my car insurance was only $50 bucks more on the same coverage when driving my honda accord. Wont be the same for everyone though
Plus you would probably get more girls with the lexus than the other 2 cars

Moving in and out with a 2is won't be great either especially since the seats don't fold down for more room. I had a crossover in college, and it was perfect given the snowy climate and extra cargo room (when you're the only roommate of five with a car your grocery runs turn into huge endeavors)

Coming from a guy finishing up grad school I think I can help out a bit. I started college with a mazda 3 and sold that to buy my dads silverado 1500 off of him. Then when I realized I was going to have to pay for gas after college, I sold that and got my IS250. I would suggest an is350 if you can over any of the other options. if it were me, I would say keep the truck but I wish I would have never gotten rid of it. I went with the 250 because I wanted a decently priced manual trans luxury car and it fit the bill. Moving with the mazda 3 was not bad so I would assume the IS 250 is about the same but I have not had to do so with it yet because I just moved across town for my final year.

350 hands down.
gas is a bit on the guzzler side for is350, i get 15mpg but i drive very very short distances, 100% city.
Maintenance wise, get it CPOed, just had my alternator replaced. OEM costs approximately $700 for parts only, labor is $100-150/hr. some members also reported issues such as: early water pump failure, carbon buildup(250 only), oil pan leak(chain), cylinder misfire, thats all i can think of off the top of my head. Make sure previous owner did all recalls.
Most chicks dig the car's design. Have you also considered the G37 coupe, genesis coupe, acura rsx-s, frs, or even some Japanese classics such as 240sx(rocketbunny perhaps, jkjk)?
On a side note. I was even with an 2013 v6 tang, and you can walk the last generation of Zs.
Other than s4 or 335i, the 350 is golden from a dig, in that specific category.
