GROM USB3 iPod - Having Issues
I just bought a GROM Audio USB3 iPod interface for my 2008 IS350.
I have to say that so far the functionality is intermittent, at best, when using it with my iPhone 5 (Lighning style connector).
It will not even connect to my iPod Nano (older style connector) after trying it with two different cables and two different iPods.
Is anybody else experiencing similar issues?
I had a GROM Audio iPod interface in my 2004 IS300 and it was somewhat quirky as well.

I don't use mine with an iDevice I just use it with a USB key plugged into it. It is difficult to get it into the mode we want to use it in (displays as CD Changer 2 usually, but sometimes as CD Changer 1: As intended according to tech support) and switching modes is supposed to be announced out loud (USB/Ipod/Android, etc) but it doesn't announce (told by tech that that feature doesn't work on Lexus but works on Toyota/BMW, etc)
The unit has frozen up several times requiring me to tear into the dash to disconnect it and plug it back in, at which point it is hot to the touch (only from being in a frozen state: Tech Support)
I've just gone back to burning MP3's to CD and playing them through the changer. Much less of a hassle.
I'm still looking for a good device that will allow me to just use a USB stick and stream music/shuffle music and playlists with our systems. Every maker seems to want to cram features in to make it work with several different devices.

I finally got a response back from GROM. It stated that a new firmware update should fix the incompatibility issue with the old style 30-pin connector iPods and iPhones.
Fingers crossed.
