Carbon build up recall help
I have recently purchased a 2006 IS250 AWD, with 60K miles. The car was owned by a freinds grandmother, has every service record from the Lexus dealership, it could almost pass for a 2014 if they did not have the body changes, I lucked out and was at the right place at the right time and got the car at a great price.. I have started to notice a little sputter when i come to a stop, but not every stop, and in cold temperature there is a delay when starting. I had seen a thread about the carbon build up recall, and it had said that those were sings..? My check engine light is not on though, how will they detrmine weather i am eligible for the recall?? Do they just record it ? I only have until June 15th and my 9 years will be up.. Glad to be apart of the club, really helping me decide what way I want to go as far as mods

contact dealer regarding the carb build up recall. Give them your VIN to see if your car is under it.
If it is, they will call you in to run a test for misfiring, if it is they will put a liquid with your oil that will eat the carb first. After that you will get a whole new make over.

Just go to your closes dealership for Lexus and ask them to check it for you if your misfire code comes up they will order part and call you when they are ready to replace your pistons. Simple no need to stress if you don't see it every time you come to a stop then you good once it start happening more frequent then it's bad. This problem will not set off and check engine light.

It probably wouldn't hurt to throw in some SeaFoam in the car if you don't want to go the dealer.... I have had good success with SeaFoam in the past. In addition, if you ever end up doing the spark plugs, it may be a good idea of letting some SeaFoam down the intake ports to hopefully dissolve some of the crud on the valves.
Probably won't do too much, but it shouldn't hurt.

The problem is, I read somewhere on here that the IS250 is Direct Injection (fuel gets deposited straight into the combustion chamber), That is vastly different then the IS350 which is Port Injection (fuel gets deposited into the intake ports).
With Port injection, fuel/air runs over the valves... unlike Direct Injection.
All-in-All, just adding 44K into the fuel tank is not really going to do much for the Carbon Buildup.

BG 44K is great stuff! Pretty much anytime you go somewhere to get a fuel system treatment, they just throw this stuff in there and call it good. You also get a little token in BG stuff too... But you won't use enough for this to matter.

Did you, or your sister pay the 165.00$$?? Im out on that, if Lexus put the recall out then they shouldnt charge you if it does not show up, I am afraid that it will not show up on my car because it just started doing it, and it dosnt do it all the time, and after june 15th my warranty is up...
