Default 2011 IS250 Hesistation after oil change

So I just change my oil at 20,000 miles. I went from mobile 1 0W20 to royal purple 0W20. Car ran great on mobile 1 but I decided to change it to royal purple because I heard it was better. After oil change I notice the car feels a little sluggish and sometimes feels a little hesitation when its shifting gears. It is an automatic with a K&N intake. it took about 75 miles after I reset the maintenance light for it to get use to the intake again because it was running really bad. it does feel a lot better now but I can still feel some hesitations and sluggishness. any idea what could be wrong?
I also change the cabin filter and the intake filter and I used about 6.5 quarts of oil with a Toyota oem filter. Thanks

May be it is related to something else and not the oil change?

Did you disconnect the battery for any reason? Because it will take a few driving cycles for the ECU to relearn if you disconnected the battery.

no I dident. all I did was change the oil. I am not sure if royal purple is just not good in that engine. but I find it very strange and cant find a reason for it yet. I think I will drain it and put back mobile 1 and see if it goes back to normal. unless you guys have any ideas. thanks

would resetting the oil light reset any sensors or anything like that which would give me this problem?

Default Hesitation = K&N

I would say no. Additionally, the change in brands of oil would not cause the problem you describe. What you describe as sluggish with a hesitation sounds to me like the air/fuel ratio is on the lean side. This points directly at your K&N intake modification as the culprit. Anytime you jack with the stock intake or exhaust, you're asking modern cars to compensate for something that the engineers didn't design. Put the stock intake back on and your car will be quieter, smoother running, and more than likely faster.

You can also disconnect the battery and reconnect it, that might help the car learn how to handle the new intake. Least thats what I see as a very simple thing to try

The ECU "learns" that the intake is there so it should run fine. I have an Injen intake on my 2007 250 and haven't had any problems. More air is never a bad thing as long as the ECU realizes what's going on. Might be a good idea to just unplug battery and reset ECU and let it relearn....see if that fixes it. The stock airbox is ugly and takes up too much space!!!

This was a pretty interesting read as I am also looking into intakes. Thanks for the info and I am glad to hear that your issue was fixed.

Is there any downside to resetting the ECU?

Thanks

No, there isnt any downside of resetting the ECU. The ECU basically will learn and adjust to the driver's style of driving. Resetting the ECU just erase the memories and accelerate the process.

just like pheonix72 said, there is no downside to resetting the ecu that I came across. I personally like the K&N typhone intake and it gives a great sound.
