Does anyone besides me hide incoming mods from wife?
So i 've been doing some little mods here and there but am getting ready to start moving on to the bigger more expensive ones like coilovers, exhaust, put some boom in the trunk. I think for the coil overs i'm gonna have them shipped to my mothers than have the mechanic install them. Are my the only one who has to do this so the wife doesnt ***** at me and tell me all i care about is myself?

I kinda do this. Some mods are not that noticeable to the wife, like getting the coil overs on. My wife would notice an exhaust, wheels, and subs though. The way I look at it is that her hair cost almost $200 every 5-6 weeks and she gets at least one 90 minute massage a month and I don't know what that cost, not to mention manny peddy too. She is spending more in a year on her comfort then I spend on mods. So I look at it as a fair trade.

met up someone local who was engaged and preparing for wedding
he put coils on his car without telling his fiancee, but she couldn't even tell the different between ride comfort or how the car looks
until he told her he changed suspension then she says "i don't like how the car feels"
lol everything is psychological to women

I'll play the eBay card.. Won the subs for 40 bucks, coilovers girls don't notice, exhuast just tell her you took out the resonators from the stock exhuast and bought just the tips . Rims is a tuff one... Maybe you traded them with someone who really wanted your stock ones and you gav them 100 bucks on top lol.

LoL funny, had this convo with the mrs. yesterday. I met her up at the mall to do some christmas shopping, we went to dinner and when we left she dropped me back to my car. We bought some sweaters and i said while we pulled up to the car, "Man I hope it fits" and she turns to me and asks "What did you add to your car now?" .... maaaaannn can i live!? lol we both chuckled, she's OKAY with me doing whatever, just not going over board. I tell her i work pretty hard and this is one thing I like doing so she can't take it away. She's supportive but I'm wondering how far I can push the envelope. lol

No I don't hide mods, there are times for small dollar items I will ask for forgiveness rather than permission. Hiding something that you consider high dollar from your spouse and hoping they won't notice is a recipe for disaster. I suppose if modding your car is more important than your relationship then it doesn't make much difference...
In my relationship the trick is making sure I can justify high dollar items, while still being able to afford them without telling her no when she wants something equally as costly that I may think is unecessary / frivolous.
Examples:
Coilovers - I'll replace them when the shocks are shot, ~$1,200 for the coilovers I want is a justifialbe cost over and above oem shock replacment.
LSD - Depending on how the rest of the winter goes I may be able to justify this as a safety/convenience item. Open diff + RWD + snow + overly active traction control is often not a fun situation, even on new snow tires.

Very well put. Women really aren't that stupid.
Tell her you could be hanging around in bars and strip clubs or you could be at home working on your car. That will satisfy her....I promise.

I got over that hump before I married my wife. She found out about the mods when I had to part out and transfer them to my recent IS. Had a big fight, especially because we're saving for a house, so I haven't added anything new since, well except for a lip that broke off from hitting a tire tread on the freeway, I'm surprised she didn't get upset about at that.
