lost keyfob
this is a little rant and question
So today at work i lose my keyfob. after searching for it no luck finding it.i called lexus and they want $125 to reprogram my other key or $350 to get a new one and reprogram both. so my question is to anyone who has ran into this problem. what would yall do about the key aspect. if i reprogram my keys the manual key will still open car/glove box. which is not a real good thing. But my only up side is i dont work at the same job but for more than a few months at at time. so i could use the wifes car untill i go to a different job.(apparently to change the lock on the door is expensive)i thought 350 was high for a key and reprogram So if you were in my shoes would you just get new key and reprogram and skip changing lock or change everything?

If this were my case, it would be a hard call for me. But at the end, I would change the whole locking system rather than just reporgramming the remote. It also depends on where I lost it. If the place where I usually goes then I would do the whole thing. If not, I might consider just reprogram the remote.

Without knowing anything about where he works, or the integrity of his colleagues, why should he not worry about the lost one? If a dishonest person at his work location finds it, they can go out to the parking lot, press the panic button to figure out which car it belongs to, and either steal contents from the car, or steal the car itself.

Someone posted screenshots of the Tech Steam software Lexus uses to program the keys...If I remember correctly, you can remove and add individual keys through the system. If that's true, you could ask the dealer to remove the lost key so that the car can't be started with it. Then you could just buy another keyfob and program it so you have an extra just in case. Sewell sells the key fob + cut key as well, see if getting them from Sewell with the CL discount and having the dealer program them would save you money.
Re-Keying for the physical key would be expensive, it's really up to how you feel about having that done. For some people it would be worth the expense, for others they might not be too worried about it.

My IS350 has 1 Key FOB. Should I invest in a spare Key FOB? The local Lexus dealer says $225 for the KEY FOB, $75 to program., total $300.
Any other options?
Sewell will sell a KEY FOB with key cut to VIN for $200. Then it has to be programmed by the local LEXUS dealer. That could be between $50 to $75 I guess. I am tempted to go for the Sewell set plus local program.

I say use your wife's car until the key turns up... worse case, you can re-program the keys. If you have valuables in your car, I would also re-key the locks.
I am not sure about your work environment. Have you tried checking with the Security Department or Front Desk/Reception? Perhaps who ever found your keys may have turned them in.

update.. forgot about this till i seen it bumped.
I went and got a new key. Cost me 450.00 Was not happy about that.. but it is what it is. Of course the key was found. but it was a week later. fell 100 feet off the grid iron of a stage and landed on a trash bag. Luckly someone that knew it was mine found it. My only issue was i am the only person that drives a lexus so it wasnt hard to find the car. and there are lots of sketchy people in the construction scene.. but thanks for everyones input now i have 2 key fabs and 3 mech keys
