What happens if my 2006 is250 decides to have carbon build up issues after 9 years
So since Lexus only covers the carbon build up issue for 9 years, will I be screwed if i buy a 2006-2007 is250 and in 2 years I get the problems. How much would it cost do you guys think to fix it if I have to pay out of pocket...

It probably is going to cost you $10000-$12000 to fix it a the dealer. I had an 06 IS250 and experienced carbon build up and sold it before the TSIB came out because of carbon build up. In my opinion once the engine is rebuilt it won't be the same. I got an IS350 afterwards. If you're looking into 06 or 07 models think about IS350. The prices aren't much higher and the fun factor is not even comparable.

That sucks cause I don't want a 350 I mainly want the 250 because of the AWD and I can't afford a 2011 or newer 350 to get the AWD. And I know they are good in winter with snow tires but I don't even have the space to keep a set of tires laying around.

My IS250 AWD had its motor rebuilt last year under the TSIB. I asked my service adviser how much this would have cost if it had not been covered. He gave me a list of all parts that were replaced and labor costs, which ended up being around $7500. After the rebuild, I feel it runs a lot better and smoother than before. Gas mileage has improved and it also feels a bit more peppy than before.

My car is at the dealer right now due to the engine recall. The problem is still persisting & no one knows what seems to be the problem.
