Mating a GS350 F-Sport Front Bumper to the 2IS (Step by Step)
#46
Obivously no bondo should be used at all, only plastic filler. I forgot to mention, I do this for a living. Staples are not a good idea. When heated (once completed) the stables will heat up at a different degree then the plastic due to the different materials. This allows for ghosting around each of the staples used. Staples are a great idea for tab repair. The best way to do it would to plastic weld it while on the car, then back it up with some fusor 100ez. on the rear with a mesh and then on the front. Sand it smooth and hope for the best. I would leave it in the sun in primer for a few days to see if it bubbles anywhere. Any air pockets will allow the air inside the pocket to expand, thus creating a bubble at the surface.
Take a look at the video you posted, none of the repairs are done to cosmetic areas, only structural areas that are not seen.
Best of luck.

Glad you chimed in here. The method we're using is the stapler method then after the staples cool we go back over it with plastic weld. Here is a video below showing the plastic weld being applied. I am very glad you brought this us as I may not have mentioned it in the future had you not brought it to my attention. But I agree with you totally.

Thanks Shawn.
Nice, thanks B.
Agreed, I will look into changing the title of this thread.
Thanks Nima.
I know tell me about it. If I can't afford the bumper perhaps he's just going to have to keep it I suppose? I know how much it cost HKS350 for the labor alone on his one off build, so I am hoping it's no more then what Jeremy paid.
Do you have pics/video of your TL?
Thank you for your help. I'll check what glue is being used.
Agreed, however a nice gentleman on this forum has already looked into doing this and the price is sooooo high. In a way, I kinda like that the chance of this ever being mass produced won't see the light of day. It's nice to finally have something unique around here in South FL. The guys down here sit the bar so high at shows I attend to it's difficult to stand out from the crowd.
Thank you for the kind words

Sounds like a plan, I would still recommend going over it with an epoxy glue such as fusor 142 or fusor 100ez on the back. It looks promising, I will say though. It is going to come down to the fine detail that will make the difference. This type of job is best done the 1st time, correctly, so hopefully they can take as much time as possible
This is where it gets difficult because you are in a tough situation. I never understood how someone can start working without a given price. Let's say i do a job, then give a price that the customer can't afford? Looks like you should be good though, you have some nice mods
