Default How long is the ECU under warranty?

Looks like my IS350 will be needing a new ECU soon but I'm at 67K miles. Does the power-train or federal emissions warranty cover the ECU?

I don't know the answer to your question but I'd like to ask what's wrong with your ECU??

Is the ECU technically part of the powertrain?

I'm not sure if it falls under the power train or not but I always though that an ecu either worked or didn't. What is going in where you say "you might need one soon" ?

^He didn't say he might need one, he said it looks like he needs one... To answer your question Chi- I believe that the ECU is actually only covered under the bumper-to-bumper warranty as it is part of the electrical system.

I stand corrected, taken straight from lexus' website:

Powertrain Warranty

The Powertrain Warranty is for 72 months or 70,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Except for the situations listed on the Basic Warranty page, this warranty covers repairs needed to fix defects in materials or workmanship of any component listed below:

Engine
Cylinder block and head and all internal parts, timing belt and cover, flywheel, oil pan, water pump, fuel pump, engine mounts, engine control computer, seals and gasket

As per the Lexus website and maximL's most recent post, it is covered under the Powertrain Warranty.

Thanks Maxim and Jeff, I saw it too on the Lexus site. Well, I basically have multiple Check Engine Lights on. Since I work at an Acura dealer with a Lexus dealer next door, their techs helped me scan my codes and when they researched the codes, they all point to an ECU malfunction. One code is P0606 which is a ECM fault code.

Could that be the reason why your were getting such bad MPG? I remember seeing your thread a while back

Well, I come to realize it's really due to where I drive and how I drive that I get bad gas mileage. In Chicago, there's stop signs every block and street lights every 1/8 mile or so. So it's constant accelerating and stopping. Also, people are aggressive drivers around here too. But my mileage now isn't bad. I get 17 in the city and 22 combined.

Luckily, all my problems are covered under warranty. It wasn't too long ago I had the water pump replaced and then the catalytic converter last month. Now it's the ECU and if I can catch it, have them fix the start-up grind with the timing chain.
