Default Is this normal or do I have a transmission problem?

Getting my cats on my IS350 replaced sometime this month and maybe the start-up grind too if they could replicate it. I've noticed something about my car that I don't notice happens on other cars I've driven.

Say I'm going down the highway at 65 MPH and the RPM is at 2000ish in 6 gear. I would punch the gas pedal and let off right away. It would rev to like 4000 RPM and drop back down instantly but the car doesn't accelerate or pick up at all.

It also happens at any other speed. I can go like 30 MPH, give it gas and then let off but it doesn't accelerate at all. It just revs and then back down to the RPM it was originally.

Just wanted to see if this is normal, if not, I will add it to my list of warranty related problems I'll have the dealer check out.

My car does it if I'm stopped and punch the gas but don't commit. Rpms will shoot up then drop down really quick and shift to second and I haven't moved anywhere. Sometimes I play with the rpms like this when I'm bored on the highway lol

To test this "issue", find yourself on the HWY at speed in 6th gear and hit WOT. If it down shifts to 4th (like it should) and you hardly accelerate, there's an issue. Otherwise, it's just drive-by-wire and auto trans lag.
