DIY '06 Ebay grill install...with a twist!
So I've had this Ebay "F-sport" grill sitting around the garage for a while now. Just been thinking about what I could do to this thing to make mine a little unique. Well, scanning Ebay as I usually do I came across a sweet deal on a BNIB CT200H rear trunk emblem. Measurements seemed spot one for what I wanted...so I jumped on it! Got the emblem in the mail today, and went right to work. At first glance the emblem seemed to be a perfect fit...but alas, the gaping between the prongs was 1 CM smaller on the emblem than on the grill. Oh well, so I have to drill new holes. No biggie! Plastic welded the loose "L" from the grille onto the grill assembly. Then mounted the emblem onto the grill using both the sticky backing and plastic welded the prongs to the grill assembly. Then took off the garage to perform surgery! Safety first...lined around the grill with blue painters tape. Then removed the grill assembly from the chrome surround with a little prodding and clever maneuvering. With the plastic scratch liner still on the emblem, I installed the Ebay grill. Easier to go in than out. Pop back in the tabs, replace the plastic clips, and the 10MM bolt. BAM...DONE!
Now, I've not sure if it is the shape of the emblem or the materials within the emblem itself that make this thing pop in the pictures...but damn! Honestly, when you're just looking at the emblem (even in the natural sunlight) the bright blue just isn't there. It's subtle really; but it's kinda cool that when it's photographed that it likes to say...hello, get my good side! LOL!
Now, a timeline of photos...starting with the OEM Toyota emblem P/N, if you dare try the same thing. Pardon the Android 8MP camera pics; it's not so great in low-light conditions.

I feel it looks quite nice, The blue definitely stands out but its nice to have a little contrast, Since F sport products are Blue to begin with, If you accent the rest of your car with Blue it would flow nicely, Like Blue brakes etcetc.
Btw, Which Ebayer did you buy the grill off? and how is the fitment? Did you need to customize it in anyway?

Fitment is actually spot on...I was surprised! Nope, only the work to mount the emblem and the plastic welding.
I agree, but it I'm still happen with it all because I plastic welded in some extra plastic in behind the holes...so you cannot see through them now.
