Manual and engine oil cap says 5W-30. That's what I've been running.

I run Mobil 1 in my is2 and toyota van and the inside of the engine is clean as a whistle after a while. The more potent detergents in the oil clean it up and keep it that way. My mechanic also mentioned that running syn can help with carbon buildup. Time will tell

I don't think conventional vs synthetic matters much but I use only ROYAL PURPLE!

GM switched to synthetic in the Corvette so they could eliminate the engine oil cooler. Saves cost. Yes it does run cooler. GM has specs that could not be met on the Dino oil unless an oil cooler was installed. The specs were met with synthetic and no oil cooler.

Your choice. Lexus felt the synthetic wasn't needed, but we don't know what specs they were they were trying to meet.

I run synthetic for cold weather lubrosity. I want it to flow very fast when cold. (just shy of wisconsin, pretty far north and sometimes quite cold.)

It can't hurt for summer.

And do note Lexus recertified a lot of cars to run 5w20 or even 0w20 from 5w30. My 98 GS4 is one of them.....
