Soooooo... my car has 150K... what should I do, if anything? I use the Chevron fuel injector cleaner, get synthetic oil changes every 10K, use 87 octane ever since I bought the car brand new (yeah, I know some people are totally against this). Should I just ride it out or this a sign that I got lucky? Keep up with status quo? Increase the fuel injector cleaner (I pour the bottle in every 3-6 months) and/or up to 91 octane? I drive a ton of miles (25K a year), I'm at 150K, Car has been perfect for me other than the water pump going bad... and this. Thoughts? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

As other have said the required fuel is premium. It isn't suggested. Lexus has no incentive to tell you to use premium fuel if it isn't required based on the design of the engine.

Says on the inside of the gas door "Premium Unleaded Fuels Only" its not a recommendation its a requirement. Our engines are such high compression you need the best fuels you can get. This is Lexus guys.. we're not rolling around in Hyundai's. Spend the extra couple bucks for the good stuff.

182,000 miles of filling it up with 87 (mostly Chevron or Shell) and my car is finally getting the carbon buildup problem taken care of. Never left me stranded, haven't spent a penny outside of normal maintenance (not by the dealer), and lexus corporate is covering me for life for the piston problem. I feel 100% fine with my 87 decision.
Thanks to the people who had constructive comments. Others? Not so much.
