Is the vehicle stability control system covered under power train warranty or just under basic? I've been getting the "Check VSC" light with the CEL and Traction light on random occasions where it comes on for a few days, then away for a few days and back on again.

You need to get the codes pulled. It may has nothing to do with your VSC system.

That light comes on anytime the CEL does, even for a loose gas cap.

To answer your question, no, the vehicle stability control system is not covered by the power train warranty. (though as Kurtz said, it's likely irrelevant, as the car disables the VSC system any time the CEL is on, causing the "check VSC" message)

I've tried to get the codes pulled out from the auto parts stores and all. I also bought my car into my friend's Auto Tech classes at school and every time, the same problem comes up. It's always unable to read. I know the scanner works cause I used it last time when I did compression testing on my car for a lab when I took Auto classes last semester for CEL's due to cranking without spark plugs. It pulled up 7 codes but this time, it can't read.

Could this be related? When I was changing out my springs, I noticed the "skid sensor wire" was fraying and the wire itself was showing. I replaced it with a new wire and the "Check VSC" light went away after driving a mile but now it comes on intermittently. Could the wires have touched and messed up the sensor or the ABS? And also, are there special codes if this is related to the VSC?

Can be more specific on what wires were exposed and that you "fixed"?

It's the wire that runs behind the brake rotor shield. I noticed it was fraying and the wire itself was exposed so I bought a new one from Sewell. Installed it, the light went away for weeks but then it appeared again and goes on and off. It's 89516 in the picture that I replaced.

Looks like abs sensor wire

ABS and VSC communicate with the same sensors via the same signal wires. There is no one all-inclusive "ABS sensor".

Ok so you replaced the bad wire with a new OEM wire, no DIY FIX...correct?

Yes, I tried soldering the old wires together but they kept coming apart before I could even install them so I just replaced them with new one. My guess is that maybe the old wire touched each other and messed up the ABS module or the sensor behind the wheel? Since scanners aren't able to read codes, I'm guessing it's not a problem with the engine or the CEL light.
