2007+ taillights don't fit 2006 ISx50's pic inside
This is a thread for those of you that have 06's in my opinion. Not sure if other year models have this issue.
For those keeping up with this thread I started, it turned out it was taillights from a 2008 IS250 that I had gotten.
I know it was a stock taillight because the back of it had all the same numbers as the back of my stock taillights did.
The only difference. Is what you see in the attached picture.
Notice the white harness on the left side of pic. It has 3 prongs that are wider & I mean barely wider then the 3 prongs in the harness on the right.
The harness on the right is from my 2006 that I sodered onto the 2008 taillights. The harness on the left is the cut harness from the 2008.
When attempting to plug the harness into the other harness that is attached to my blinders it would not go in. Thus not plug and play.
Does anyone know why?
Looking at my VIN it appears my car was built in late 2005. I wonder if sewell would have an answer.
My biggest fear is getting ebay lights or some other OEM light and still having the issue I'm having as of tonight. And that is that my taillights spuratically stay lit. I'm not a professional soder guy but my soder seems fine and I wrapped each individual wire with electrical tape. I can literally start my car without pressing the brake pedal now sometimes. And cruise control won't come on cause it thinks my brakes are on sometimes. Very weird. I do have some fleabay lights on the way but fear those won't plug up to my stock harness that is attached to the turn signal bulb either. And I'll be back to either sodering those lights & praying that my issue goes away or returning them.
HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN/HEARD OF THIS BEFORE?
**Update** See post 13 for the culprit.

Jesus H, finally someone that has seen this issue. Oddly, I have cut/ sodered, and now when I drive my cruise won't come on sometimes and my brakes stay on. I doubt it, but could it be because I have a higher A rated fuse that I replaced my blown ones with?

But, you're saying yours came with a harness that had a male & female on both sides of it and that the female side plugged into your new taillights built in harness and the male side plugged into your cars harness?
If so I must get this harness you speak of. If this is the case and your answer is yes where did you get your taillights that came with this harness?

I'll post a pic when I get home tonight.
all it did was convert my 2006 plug from my car to the new style (not sure which year they switched to the new plug)
so 1 side plugged into my car's wiring, and the other side plugged into the new light.
its like 8 inches long and has 1 connector on each side.
racerinnovation was the seller.

yes. those will come with the converter I was talking about. If your car is black then those are good. If your car is SGM or obsidian, then I would go with the smoked lights (that's what I got) The lenses are still clear, but the inside matches the car a little better.
heres a link. but your choice.

lemme know if you want any additional pics.

Once I soldered the new connection, the lights worked perfectly. Check your connections then your fuses. Did you insulate the wires separately after soldering? Do the pins look OK (inside the new connectors?)? Silly question but did you wire the wires correctly (I believe there were 3 different ones)?
Just some thoughts. Hopefully you got it all figured out.

Yeap, I did blow fuses.... Then my brakes wouldn't go off. Ended up getting a ticket for it and that's how I found out they were staying on all the time. I kept wondering why I was able to start the car without my foot on the brake.
Anywho, the culprit???? when I first installed the taillights and they wouldn't come on I mashed the brake pedal. Really hard. To the point that I bent it slightly and had no idea. So I retightned the pedal screws under the dash. Bent the pedal a little bit back to where it should be and voila. Now my tails work.
What a mess.
