Royal Purple Filter Question
Hey guys im due for an oil change soon. I used royal purple with toyota's oil filter ($10 bucks) for my first time. And now im looking at Royal Purple's filter.
http://www.royalpurple.com/rp-oil-filter.html
I'm a noob so i have a few questions:
-Will this fit in my 2is?
[On the website it doesn't list our car but there was so little selection for 2010, so maybe one of you guys tried it?]
-Have anyone used this before? if so, how was it?
Thanks

I am told that the Royal Purple oil is very high quality, but I am always cautious of oil companies that "make" their own filters. In many cases, the oil company will have their filters made for them by a filter company, with the expectation that their name on it will help it sell. Mobil 1 has had filters out for a while now. While I love Mobil 1 oil, I would never use their filter. I have always been huge fan of Purolator, and their PureOne filter is one of the most efficient available. The reason Royal Purple doesn't list a filter for the 2nd Gen IS, is because it uses a cartridge filter as opposed to a spin on filter. I have yet to see a cartridge filter offered by any company other than a true FILTER company. Many of the benefits that they pitch in their YouTube video, do not apply to a cartridge filter anyway. I would recommend you either use the Purolator filter, or pick one up at your local Toyota dealer. They will be as efficient and perform just as well, assuming you change your oil and filter at the recommended interval.

It doesn't look like Royal Purple makes a filter for the 2IS. From the link you posted, it looks like they only make traditional spin-on filters. Our cars use a canister filter with a replaceable paper element.
