I am buying out my car at the end of the lease. It's an '06 IS 250 with 27k miles. I drive about 8-10k miles a year. And probably looking to keep it for 4 or 5 more years.

The financing guy said the '06 IS 250 came with a 4yr/50k mile warranty and that he recommends the extended warranty for an additional 3yrs for $1995.

What are thoughts on this? Do people recommend getting the extended warranty?

Search for contact info for Toby Rivers and Troy Dietrich, they both sell that warranty considerably cheaper. Ask both for a quote, they'll likely be within 50 bucks of each other and at least 500 bucks or more off what your guy wanted.

thats just your basic warranty.....the important stuff like powertrain parts are still covered to 6yr/70k miles.....if you had the car since new i wouldnt worry..its a lexus/toyota all other parts shouldnt fail unless you abuse it.

That's a little pricey. I bought my platinum Lexus warranty for around $900 through Lexus. It is 5yr/100,000 miles.

I got my 7 year/100,000 mile Lexus Platinum warranty extension for ~$1300 when the car was new. You should be able to do the same through Troy. Be absolutely certain anything you get is a MANUFACTURERS extended warranty, not 3rd party - the 3rd party warranties go belly-up every day
