How is the rear Lexus logo emblem attached to the trunk? Just 3M tape? or does it have prongs? Can I safely remove the Lexus "L" logo and then reattach it?
I ask because I'm about to get my trunk lid wrapped in paint protection film at Premier Protective Films Inc.
Any thin hard plastic will do. Lots of guys use dental floss, but that's not nearly as easy as using an emblem removal tool (essentially a plastic chisel). It helps to use a heat gun or park the car in the sun to soften up the tape to help removal too.
So What about the other emblems on the back of the car? Do they have prongs too or is it just the "L" emblem that has the prongs? I'm interested in de-badging my car except for the Lexus L logo.
This is a picture I took years ago of the back of all the rear badges:
From left to right, the "Lexus" wordpiece has two prongs, the "S" and the "5" in 'IS 350' have prongs, and as already mentioned the front and rear circle L logos have two prongs each.
