I plan to switch my oil in the next oil change to Castrol syn.....Which is better ???? Where I live now is getting cold.winter time...this weekend we gonna get snow for 4 days.......IS 6.6 quarts enough or I have to add more to it.. My engine is kinda humming a lil yesterday. hmmm I have heard Bp and Castrol are the same company. well I don't know much about it, but I just heard... anyway, I used Bp for 2 years on my Toyota Corolla and all I have to say it's a good oil. Same thing to Castrol I'm using it now for 1 year and half and it's very good too. Never had any problem using both oils

I've used Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20 for the last few changes and have been happy. The folks on the BITOG oil forum seem to agree that PP is one of the better full synthetics that is both widely available and reasonably priced.

Use Eneos! It is better than those two brands you've pick.
Eneos USA
Use 0w20 if you want to save gas, and use 0w50 if you want to push out more horses.

Here's is your answer, read this link do some research and come up with your own conclusions. I start you off. Personally I'd use Pennzoil Platinum. Between the 2 you asked, I'd use Valvoline Synpower.

If you are going to the Castrol Full Synthetic, go the Castrol Syntec 0W30 (Autozone, Pep Boys). There is entire thread devoted to this over on BITOG, http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...643#Post718643
I have been using this stuff for almost 2 years...by far the best oil I've ever used and that grade will do just fine in cold weather.
If not I'd consider Pennzoil Platinum 5W30 as it is readily available any store.

When it comes to full synthetic ALL brands are over kill especially if you change it with less then 10K miles on it. The only time you need to worry about which one is better is when you are extending the oil change interval. If you intend to do this Amsoil has proved to be one of the best. I have almost 40K miles on Amsoil 0w-30 using a bypass system and my last UOA showed the oil to still be providing safe protection (in a Toyota 4.7 V8).
