what is the max volume of the ISx50 audio system?

The higher the volume, the lower the bass with the factory Pioneer and I would imagine the ML is the same way. I am very impressed by this sound system, much better than the Bose in had years ago and that was nice. I use to rip everything out in the early years, but I am glad sound systems have come a long way over the years. Surprisingly, the ES350 has need for much improvement and was an active thread for some time on CL.

Your comments bring to mind that wonderful scene in the movie "This is Spinal Tap" where Nigel proclaims Marshall amps to be louder than the rest, because while the other amps go up to ten, these go to eleven.
I'm guessing that the original poster was just curious of how high the numbers go so that they'll know what percentage of scale they're listening at, e.g., if they're listening at 32, they've got the **** set to the middle of the range.

I like a radio that is LOUD...yet crystal clear....which is why I want to get the ML system.
Is there any distortion on either sound system (OEM/ML)...when it's turned up?

The Non-ML cuts out the lows as the volume is increased. The system (extrenal amp) acts as a bass blocker to reduce blowing the speakers. It is still possible to blow the speakers, but I typically know the level by ear where I should not continue to trun up the volume. I am sure the ML is the same way. I have played with the ML, but those who own the system will verify this. Most external (non-headunit driven) sound systems have some kind of capactiter that reduces distortion at higher volumes.
