Default ML Audio Crackling

Hey guys, I've only had my brand new 3IS for two weeks now. Last weekend I noticed what sounded like a crackling sound coming from the front tweeters (or maybe mids) of my Mark Levinson audio system. It seems to be more or less prevalent depending on what song is playing and at what volume. All my music is played from an iPod classic through the USB cable with the EQ set to "Rock" and the car's EQ set with the mid one notch higher than the bass, and the treble set one notch higher than the mid. I like a lot of clarity in my songs. The inly thing i can think of is that the system either has a cracked cone, or it doesnt like the compressed MP3s and MP4s. I used to have a $2,000 system in my old Solara using the same ipod/USB setup and never had this issue. Please advise, thanks.

Set your EQ to off or flat and then tune through your stereo in the car. It sounds like you are getting dirty music from the iPod. Specifically dirty bass signals.

Kinda off topic, and sorry to jack your thread OP.

But, I'm just wondering what are you guy's sound settings for your ML audio system? & how do we change the EQ on the car?

Looking for the best set-up for EDM/Dance music. I mainly play through BT audio. (Pandora)

Well BT audio streaming might not have the best signal output. With that being said honestly it's your car and stereo and you should set it to how you like the sound. Do not ever max any of the three settings out especially if you listen to your music loud. As you turn your volume up if you are getting distortions back off the settings on the in the audio in the car. Also always set your EQ flat on your media device whatever it is.
