Regarding XM/Satellite Radio
#2
Assuming you have the receiver installed:
Tune to channel 000 and write down the radio ID. Go to www.xmradio.com and sign up for a new account. Alternately, you can call XM's toll free number, but I prefer to use the website.
Leave the car outside, radio powered on with clear view of the sky for 10-30 min. Remain tuned to one of the XM preview channels. After a period of time, the radio will activate and will download all the channels, names and genres, etc... When you can tune to CH 4, 11 and some others, it's fully activated.
I installed one in my IS last week and although the initial activation went smoothly, it was wiped out the next morning for some reason. I had to log into my XM account and "Refresh" the radio to get it to download / activate again. No problems since.

I'm pretty sure that my car came with all the equipment and just needed to get it activated. How do I turn on the the XM system so that I can set the channel to 000?

I'm only familiar with the navigation / audio system. On mine, I just press the AM-SAT button one or more times to get it to XM1, 2 or 3 and then turn the tuning **** to CH 000. Don't you have your manual? If not, they are available in the owners section of the Lexus website.

If you've pressed the AM-SAT button and it doesn't go to XM 1, then you probably don't have the equipment installed in your car. You'll have to purchase the XM receiver and install it first.

You need this.

It's worth every penny, especially out in west TX where there is nothing worth a damn on AM/FM.
