Does anyone's radar detector go insane when you put your car in D, R, or P?!?

My V1 has never done it. The only time it gets unhappy is when it gets a view of the nav screen. Since I don't have it permanently mounted, there are those occasions when I have it plugged in and on, but not yet on the glass, and it definitely sets off the laser warning.

Alright......I JUST got off of the phone with ESCORT. This is what they said.
My false alert is caused by an RF signal that the car broadcasts when it is put into gear. The ONLY way to fix this is to send it in, and they will put a filter around my laser sensor to eliminate this false alert. The downside is that it will also decrease my detector's sensitivity to the laser guns used by police.
And as we all know, this is the most dangerous form of speed checking. ( other than airplanes and when they time you from one line to another, or VASCAR)

For some odd reason, my radar detector (PASSPORT ESCORT 8500 X50) goes insane when I put the car into either park, reverse or drive. It blasts the LASER warning full-bore. Does anyone know why, or how this could be? And does anyone else have the same issue?? PLEASE HELP IT'S SO ANNOYING.

Yea, unless you see them ahead of you, or they shoot someone in front of you, you're basically screwed! but with the new 9500i you can program speed traps in and it will warn you, AWESOME. but im glad to know that im not the only person with an X50 that has a mind of its own

burst you need to checkout the forum i mentioned earlier, you'll find my comments and others there. there are important FACTS there you need to know about the 9500i instead of reading about them from escort. i have the 9500i and it is NOT all that. overall my v1 is a better rd. in fact, i find the 95ooi speed trap programming to be rather useless and others have found minor problems with the gps. do your research.

I had an older escort solo in my accord and almost every time my Cingular Blackberry would ring or check my email it would set off a laser warning. It drove me absolutely nuts!
