yes im bumping this up. well months later and going through almost every bit of this car. I still haven't found the problem. swapped new cluster (known working) still same thing doesn't work on my car. used multimeter to see if I was getting all powers on cluster plugs I am getting all I need. I have rpm pulse on the pin, yet the tach does not work. I am totally mind****ed. ran out of ideas. don't know what to do. last thing I can do is take it to the dealer

probably getting a short somewhere. Do you have an aftermarket stereo? or DID it have an aftermarket stereo? Check for wires grounding when they shouldn't. Also have you unplugged the battery for a minute or so then plugged it back in?

when I got it, it had the stock radio. wiring looked virgin. I didn't see any cuts or anything. but the cluster still didn't work back then. I recently installed an aftermarket stereo but everything was done right no wires grounding

updateeee. the new cluster is an 03. and my car is an 01 so the pins are in different places. and apparently my car doesn't have the original cluster either, its an 02+. so I started repining the plugs and now it ****ing works. my lights work and tach work. I still have a few pins to do so some warning lights don't match up. like the vsc light works as an ebrake light and brake light stays on all the time. so I guess I don't even know how many miles are on my car now?

I recently purchased a 2002 IS300 Sport Cross. Everything was working on the car until this morning. The tachometer, MPG not working and the oil level light, and rear bulb indicator were on. What changed. Well here is what I found out. I had plugged in a USB phone charger to my cigarette lighter to charge my phone and started having the issues. Take out the USB phone charger and all issues go away. Weird but I can replicate the issue.

How does the cigar lighter have anything to do with the tachometer or any of these other dash issues?

hey so after reading and reading thru all the threads about the cluster/ intrament lights not working on the is300, I may have found a fix that worked for mine. My symptoms were no lights for the cluster,A/C, and the gear lights for transmission shift. All fuses and relays were working perfectly fine and grounds and harness were good! Before I purchased a new cluster I figured I would check the dimmer switch on the face plate. I pulled the face plate off my buddy's is300 same year 2001, plugged it in and all lights popped back on. Ordered a new face plate with dimmer switch and it's working good. Hope this is a fix for someone else, good luck!!!
