I have a 2002 is300 auto, my original cluster, the back light stopped working so I bought a cluster off of ebay, it was from a 2001 auto. Installed the new cluster but the tachometer is not working, the engine oil light is on, hand brake light is on. Anyone know what I did wrong?? Is there a way to reset everything???

Did you replace the cluster just to fix the illumination? If so, you know you can get replacement bulbs, right? They are just standard 194/168 and #24 wedge bulbs you can order off the internet. I believe the 2001 IS300 wiring differed from the 2002+

I recently purchased a 2002 IS300 Sport Cross. Everything was working on the car until this morning. The tachometer, MPG not working and the oil level light, and rear bulb indicator were on. What changed. Well here is what I found out. I had plugged in a USB phone charger to my cigarette lighter to charge my phone and started having the issues. Take out the USB phone charger and all issues go away. Weird but I can replicate the issue.

How does the cigar lighter have anything to do with the tachometer or any of these other dash issues?

Sounds like that charger is creating some sort of electrical interference that's messing with the gauges in the car. Most likely thru the ground wiring. Try using a different brand USB charger in the socket and see if the problem happens again

1997Soarer - The same charger works fine in the accessory port in the back of the IS300 Sport Cross. One item I did not mention previously, is that my cigarette lighter is not mounted well and loose enough for it to pull out. I am wondering if grounding is a factor. Without a tech manual for the IS300, I do not know how it is mounted. If mounted properly maybe it is grounded properly. I am wondering if the tach, MPG, and other indicators having issues are tied to grounding issued and not power or instrument panel issues.

Is there a location to get and read the IS300 tech manual?
