2001 IS300 or GS300?
Hey everyone! Im new to the forum but not new to cars or lexus'. I currently own a 98 SC300 and Im looking to add to the stable with a 4 door Lex. I've found a 2001 IS and a 2001 GS300, both are priced really well and really clean. My question to you IS owners is this.. Is there anything I should look out for on the IS that I may not know about by just searching thru old threads? If you've owned either or have experience with either feel free to chime in.
Just an FYI - Im looking to do a few small mods to the car (coilovers, exhaust, wheels, body kit, etc).
Thanks in advance!

i own a sc myself, its big heavy and luxiries, so is gs, why get same thing
IS300 is smaller, more nimble, quicker, and looks good, pretty reliable
get a 5spd is300 and youre gonna love it, i like mine, fun littel ride

I'll echo what Avarec said - very different cars, the 2GS is and 'feels' big and floaty, but you get the extra room. Also, check the front suspension on the GS as they tend to go through lower ball joint assemblies rather quickly.
The IS is just an all around fun car, very well balanced.

owning both an is300 and a gs430, both 2004, the GS is interior is better quality and has all the amenities, but the IS is more fun to drive, it's nimble and handles really well for stock. I test drove a GS3 before I got my 430 and was disappointed with it. No offense to GS3 owners. IS for fun factor, GS for room, luxury and comfort. Either way, you can go wrong. It's all preference.

I had a 2001 IS300 and loved it. Bought it with 89,000 miles on it and sold it recently with 130,000 miles. Didn't have any problems with it. The IS was fun to drive and loved the looks of it. Only negative part as you know IS cars have no leg room in the back seat. Other than that I say the IS. I could be biased.
