body kits
I just bought an IS and I havent done any mods to my car. I was thinkin about buyin a body kit but I have a question about it. When you buy a kit, can you install it yourself, and Im guessing you have to paint it too? This is all new to me so any info would be great.

You can surely install it yourself if you have experience moddifying viberglass as MOST kits for the IS300 need mionor modification. Little shaving here and there. If I were you I would leave this all up to the person painting it. Let them test fit it, paint it, and re install it. Easiest thing to do. Also some kits you see that are full bumper replacements and not lip kits require you to remove the 5mph metal bumper under the stock bumpers. These kits are made form JDM spec and were designed for the Altezza in Japan.Hope that helps.

Any ideas as to how much over the price of the kit you would spend (painting, minor modifications, labor, etc)?

I have the Vizage kit on my IS. VERY high quality kit. It is also made of urethane rather than fiberglass, so if you ever kit in a accident it is a lot less likely to get ruined. I paid around $600 for the kit off eBay. Expect to pay another $400-$1000 for paint depending on how much of a hookup you get. Hope that helps!!

The vizage is the best choice if you like it because its polyurethane. I had a fiberglass kit on one of my other cars, and it was a pain in the neck. The vizage kit i got painted (about 600 for PPG paint ) and then put it on myself (free). It was really easy. Just spend some time on it and it will look great.

Still waiting on my Kam kit to come in from Kaminari USA.
Although, not too please with their service...been waiting over 4 months.
The last thing I heard was they were backordered...
I'll say with painting and installing included, it'll total around $2000.
Price is in Canadian Dollars, as I am Canadian...*hehe*
It's authentic, the real deal, so extremely good prices...
Nothing comes cheap! *sighs*

their warehouse is about a mile from my house. i saw online somewhere you can get the kit for like 650+ 90 for shipping. which i think is a real good price even though its all lip but its cheaper to paint since its only the lip not whole bumber replacement.
