Sounds like a axle/cv joint problem. How many miles do you have on your car?

For you to have axle problems at that mileage is abnormal. You should check under the car to see if your CV boots are torn.

I think that you may be talking about the brake calipers? Does the noise happen when you hit the brake pedal?

That's what I am thinking as well.

When I did my rotors and calipers, I also put on new brake pads.

I used a lot of the "Brake Quiet" adhesive spray to keep the pads from sliding/clicking.

Ahh the dreaded brake caliper clacking sound. Happens to alot of other Toyota models including Camrys from 1992 to current. My 99 Solara and my previous 95 Avalon all made these sounds. Toyota caliper design characteristic.

That caliper noise is annoying but generally harmless. There have been many posts on this subject here in the CL forums....both from me and Flip. If your CV boots look OK, that's probably what it is.

Could be worn out shocks or worn out mounts.

Mine makes a clicking sound from 22 mph to 25 mph. Sometimes its louder than other times. It sounds like it is coming from the drive-train. It is even there when you are coasting in neutral at that speed. I have had it to the dealer 3 times since I bought it and they finally have concluded it is a bearing in the rear-end center section. They said it is resonating up the drive shaft making the noise sound like it comes from the transmission. They ordered a new bearing and seals but the parts are currently back ordered. When they come in and they install them I’ll let you know if it fixes it.

Later,
Scott M
