For those of you who has a system in your car...
What's up everyone!! I'm a couple of days away from getting two JL Audio 12w3v2's in my ride, IS300. I'm gonna power them with a JL Audio amp 500/1. And I was wondering if I should get dynomats put on the trunk door to stop the rattling, if there is any. And that's my question, is there any rattling with 12's in the trunk. The guy at the shop said I wouldn't need it since Lexus makes heavy trunks and it's totaly sealed. Tell me from your experience, THANX!!

It's a must do if you plan on keeping the car vibration free. There's nothing worse than having a nice system bumping and having your trunk lid vibrate so bad it sounds like it going to fall off. I did 1 layer of Dynomat Extreme in the trunk, 1 layer of dynomat extreme & 1 layer of accumat on the trunk lid, and 2 layers of dynomat extreme on the rear deck. Made a big difference however the trunk is now heavy so make sure you adjust your trunk lid tension bars to make it stiffer. Ebay usually has good deals on dynomat extreme...check it out.
Good luck

chefysis30: did you tape down your rear license plate?
some times rattling also comes from the rear bumper, where the bumper light wiring is routed.. not sure how you will get rid of the rattling from the gas lid though

Okay guys, well I didn't get the JL's!! I've had 3 systems in my life time and all have been JL's. I had the money to buy the JL's this past weekend but didn't instead I went with Alpine Type R's with custon box from Alpine & powereing it with the new Alpine 550w amp. I kept my stock stereo, I added a hi/low converter for better sound and also added a Alpine switch to adjust the bass & treble to make it sound sweet. And guess what my car 'KNOCKS!!' People have told me before but I never listened, but take it from me man JL's are so Over Rated!! And they are so over priced it's rediculous, and I know first hand because I've been a long time fan, but believe me guys the Alpine Type R's are no joke, they are a thousand watt speaker that go for $150-$175 each for a 12 incher the amp of choice was the Alpine MRD-M501, 550 watts of digi power and it 'KNOCKS!!' Alpine is Seriously coming with a vengance! Anyways, that's my advise!
