Default Low Speed front end scrubbing - after market wheels

Picked up myself a set of ADVANS a little while back, since installing I have notice at close to and full lock for low speeds i.e. parking etc there is a lot of front end scrub.

The wheels are

Front 19x8.5 ET38
Rear 19x9.5 ET45

I am presuming it has a lot to do with the wider front end track but just wondering if other people have the same.

Did not notice with the OEM wheels and tyres.

Cheers
.

Sounds like its rubbing on the inner fender liner, I had a similar issue and the cooling louvers on the fender would rub on the tires and make a scrubbing noise you describe. I just took some snips and cut a little away from the one that was giving me issues and haven't had a problem since.

Not sure what this could be homie....stock IS F wheels are 19x8 +45, if you're using 19x8.5 +38, you're actually gaining +1mm on the inside, and extending the wheel towards the fender 13mm...what tires are you running? You could be rubbing a little on the outside fender liner. if you're running wider than 225/40/19 that came stock, it COULD be why you're rubbing, but I think a lot of people are going wider in the front without problems?

I have stock wheels...no problems =P

Sorry guys, I should have been more clear.

This is scrubbing on the road, front wheels pushing a lot.

I'm not sure why you're rubbing in the front. Many members here are running wide rims and tires with more aggressive offsets with no problems...

Could be dependent on the tire brand. The dimensions of the same tire size from brand to brand differs. It is possible that the brand you are using is on the larger side which can be causing the scrubbing to occur. Switching to a different brand of which is the same size but with smaller dimension could solve the issue.

Its not a rub, but just what he is saying..... the tire scrubs the pavement in the exact conditions and can be repeated at will over and over.

Full lock (left or right) would jump or skip during low speed parking maneuvers in both forward and reverse.

I had these exact same symptoms with my factory rims and PS 2's - they had severely worn outside tire treads. I also moved to a wider rim and tire and have no such problems anymore.

It completely disappeared with new rims and brand new tires (and also with my winter tires and rims- 18 square set up), but must have something to do with a combination of factors - air pressure, steering angle, alignment and tire wear.

Not a complete answer..... but just confirming you are not alone.

I still don't understand this front end "scrub". To me, the tire always touches the pavement? Are you using a tire that has an XL load rating?

It feels like a "shudder" vibration with direct feedback through the steering wheel, the first time it happens its a little alarming.
