What's the reason for foldable rear headrests?

Driving home yesterday/work this am with headrests down: significant difference in rear visibility, esp helpful in that right rear quarter.
The way they flopped down, thought I might have rattle issues but not the case so far!
Shame on me! Had even looked at that part of the manual before; guess I need big cartoon pictures now................

I had a Volvo S60 that had rear headrests that did this, except they were electronically activated by a button on the central console - lots of fun bopping rear seat passengers

I can't believe some of you have chosen to take the headrest out completely. Really?? Really?? You have just taken a car that is $65K and made it ghetto. What's next, I dare to ask... For god sakes, as a F owner, I assume all of you are above average drivers. You don't need 100% visibility from your back window, especially the lower side portions of your rear windows that the headrest obscures.
If your headrest is blocking the view of whatever then speed up so whatever it is, is now in the middle...lol. The original OP was just curious, but this thread has gotten so ridiculous. Come'on! Really? It has come down to removing the headrest or lowering the headrest so you can recapture the 5% visibility?
Whatever floats your boat guys. I respect your choices.
